Altar Space
In contrast to Katie’s monumental statement works, Altar Space collection explores ceramics on a more intimate scale. Small, hand-sculpted stoneware forms are conceived as individual objects and as evolving assemblages — gathered, arranged and layered to create personal altar spaces. Drawing on the elemental language of her larger practice, these quiet works explore ritual, memory and our instinct to imbue objects with meaning.
BRIEF ARTIST STATEMENT
" I create shapes, lines, colours and textures that reflect the natural rhythmic interactions of nature, by exploring the continual dance between the macro and micro, light, shade and the interplay of earth, water, air, fire and ether. Balancing the ascetics of physical forms and esoteric movement with a deep spiritual connection "
